I’m delighted to announce that Sunderland legend Dickie Ord joins myself and Newcastle Utd’s Malcolm (Supermac) Macdonald,on the North Easts biggest football phone in The Three Legends, which has been broadcasting on radio for over 13 years.

After Micky Horswills departure, it was important to fill the void to cater for our Sunderland listeners and loyal supporters.

Dickie fits the bill perfectly and has all the credentials.
He joined his boyhood heroes back in 1986 and went on to wear the red and white striped shirt of Sunderland on more than 311 occasions, making him 34th in the all time record appearances for Sunderland. In that time he played alongside guys like Quinn, Philips,Gabadini and Gates.
He played his part in helping to get to the top flight on 2 occasions and appeared in the FA Cup final in 1992. Unfortunately a runners up medal was all he had to show for his efforts.
In 1996 arguably his greatest achievement was when he won the division one championship.
He became a cult hero when a group of Sunderland supporters released a single called ” Who needs Cantona, when we’ve got Dickie Ord.”Last year Dickie released his autobiography with the same title.

Welcome Dickie, our new legend to the show, tune in to Star on 102.8FM and give us a call on 01325 341800.
