Preston North end 1, Middlesbrough 3.

It was a must win game and after loosing the opening goal, I had my doubts.

We showed grit, determination and character bouncing back.

Litas first goal was an absolute peach, his second wasn’t bad either and Wheater grabbed a third, which could be his last goal for his home town club.

Wheater showed how much it meant to him, by kissing the badge on his boro shirt.

Still not out the woods as yet, only 1 point above Scunthorpe who are 3rd bottom, with 2 games in hand, but a great result today.

Next up Leeds Utd, no doubt that will be a tougher test as they are in the top 4 not the bottom.

  1. We’ve pounded reading and they have just moved into the play offs we can beat any team, we just don’t have the confidence, we are getting it back though

Just what the doctor ordered and a credit to the team coming back from 1 – 0 down away from home. Preston are obviously not really a benchmark to measure our improvement, but Tony`s influence is showing through. We didnt see that kind of fight in any of Strachans sides.

I have been in hysterics since yesterdays win. Propaganda radio were going on about the victory like we beat Barcalona, and the idiot callers were talking about Playoffs.

Yesterday we were lucky, we conceded what must be our 15th or 20th goal from a corner and were getting a hiding. A more confident team could have had 4 or 5 by the time Preston scored. Leeds are a lot more confident side.

Then Lita scored a great goal, but to be honest I doubt he will score again before March. In my book we are 3rd bottom as Scunthorpe have 2 games in hand on us and are in a lot better form.

I had to laugh at yesterdays line up.

    Steele(0)
    Hoyte(0) Wheater(1) Bates (1) Bennett(0)
    O’Neil(0) Thomson(0) Tavaras(0) Arca(1)
    Emnes(0) Lita(2)

5 goals scored by the whole team previous to that game.

Whilst the bench consisted of Boyd(5), McDonald(4), Kink(3), Bailey(0), Hines(0), McMahon(1), Coyne(0). 13 goals on the bench, more than double the starting to line up. To be honest Im being generous giving McMahon a goal when it was technically an own goal, but its a damn sight more than sHoyte has done.

Even if this team has clicked and hammers Leeds, it will still be dismantled come January. O’Neil and Wheater are certs to go, Arca is out of contract in the summer so we will try to offload as well, and Boyd and McDonald could be gone as well, McDonald is missing all of Jan at least. And if Kink plays once more we have to pay 500k so he wont be staying.
