Middlesbrough 1, Cardiff 0.

The odds were stacked against us this afternoon, playing against high flying Cardiff who were 19 points ahead of us.

Thanks to a Arca penalty we took all 3 points and climbed out of the bottom 3.

It is a terrific result and I am delighted for the players, the staff and the long suffering fans.

It was vitally important to grab all 3 points, to inject a bit of confidence, if we had failed we would have been rock bottom tonight.

A big well done to the back 4 for keeping a clean sheet and in-particular Seb Hines, who was thrown in at the deep end with Wheaters suspension.

Of course we haven’t turned the corner, but it is something to build on and hopefully we can travel to Doncaster next week and take all 3 points.

Don’t forget a great Christmas present is ‘Middlesbroughs Greatest Goalscorers’ Calendar, look in the shop for more details and to order.

I will also be in the Hillstreet  Centre  this Friday signing copies 11- 3pm.

A fantastic result and decent performance yesterday.

I didn’t think we could beat Cardiff but we did and it’s just as well, because, as you say Bernie, we could have been rock-bottom due to Preston beating Ipswich.

I was pleased with many aspects of yesterday’s game but it’s important that we build on this result. A win against Donny would be just fantastic and would be the perfect Christmas present for me.

    Keep it going Mogga…!

It seems we have went full circle now. yesterdays team was very similar to Southgates teams in the championship, the only difference is the lack of a superb wideman.

    Going by the Derby game we have;

RB:Hoyte and Hoyte – same player
CB:Wheater and Hines – big strong defenders
CB:St Ledger and Bates – classier, can play a bit defender
LB:Bennett and Bennett – same player
    RM: O’Neil and O’Neil – same player
CM: Williams and Thomson – Defensive holding player
CM: Digard and Bailey – a nothing player, no good defending no good attacking
LM: Johnson and Arca – the only real difference
F: Lita and McDonald – both losers who think they are a lot better than what they are
F: Aliadiere and Emnes – pacey strikers who will never score enough.

With Wheater back in for Hines, and Williams in for Thomson in a matter of weeks. We will be very similar to southgates side.

Depressingly that is a team that wont score enough goals to win us games, and we will be in a constant relegation battle.
