Five games in and Strachan still doesn’t know his best line up.
He has chopped and changed personnel and positions on a regular basis, since our championship kick off against Ipswich Town.
In my opinion if we are to get back on track, we have to find a settled team and balance.Of course long term injuries to Flood and Thomson don’t help.
Our new signings have yet to prove their worth, but its still early days.
There are 3 players that we have let go for peanuts in the last couple of years, who have proved that they are as good , if not better than our recent signings.
Mark Schwarzer, walked away on a free and has been a star since joining Fullham. At this moment in time he continues to be linked with Arsenal, we have never replaced him. Jones, Coyne and Steele have all failed to take the mantle.
James Morrisson has been at West Brom a few years now and has shown his qualities of skill, trickery, creativity, goals and one ingredient that we are missing pace.
The best of the 3 has to be West Broms Chris Brunt, strong, direct, great left foot, chips in goals, deadly at set pieces and he has great engines driving from deep position. He is better than anything we have signed in the last couple of years.
Talking about players that have left in the last few years, it’s amazing to see how many are actually involved in todays premier league, you could have a starting eleven of : goalkeeper Schwarzer (Fullham): back line Young (Aston Villa), Huth (Stoke),Woodgate (Spurs): midfield Johnson (Man City), Cattermole (Sunderland), Brunt (West Brom),Downing (Aston Villa): up front Tuncay (Stoke), Yakubu (Everton) : subs Morrison (West Brom), Zenden (Sunderland), Jones (Liverpool), Turnbull (Chelsea), Murphy (Birmingham), Greening (Fullham), Davies (Stoke),Parnaby (Birmingham).
Barnsley on Saturday……
Strachan said after our cup exit that he would sleep better after the performance.
At the weekend it is not about the performance its about the result.
If we don’t win Strachan will be back on the sleeping tablets!
